So, I've been told I use the word "community" a lot, and it's true, community is so important to me. As we pack up and make final arrangements for our lives down in Costa Rica, letting go of our Colorado community is really hard.
Do you remember the Seinfeld episode where Jerry & George talked about their "worlds colliding" - it was a party or an event in which their friends and people from all their different "worlds" ended up meeting. Kevin and I are so thankful for all our worlds here in Colorado. We have our family world - close and extended. There's our Greenwood world - which includes friends, the people I work with and lots of awesome youth and their families. There's "Nelnet world" which honestly is way more of a Kevin thing than me... There's our Willow Creek world, which includes a school world, football world, swim team world and so many amazing friends. Each of our kids have their own worlds too - friends, sports, girl scouts, etc.
I feel so blessed to have so many people who I love so much and so many people who love us too. It's a double-edged sword right now because it is so hard to say goodbye. Even if for a short time, it's hard to let go and trust that we will create new community down in Tamarindo.
But I am so convinced that the Lord has his hand in the middle of this whole process and with each passing week, I see more and more things in our new community which look so fun. I got an email from the kids' school yesterday about a "MNO" - mom's night out. Alrighty - that sounds fun. Lots of cool gatherings and people getting together. Then there's Beach Community Church - lots of good community going on there. Then there are the current owners of RPM (the property management business we're looking into buying) - they seem like great people too. The wife, Sandi, is working on fixing up our house for us and they have bent over backwards to help us get down there as easily as possible.
As hard as it is to say goodbye, we really can't wait to start our adventure down there.
To help us say goodbye to all of our wonderful "worlds" - please join us on October 16th at the Mineral Clubhouse in our neighborhood from 4-7 p.m. for an open house going away party. The address is 8500 E. Mineral Dr. 80112.
